It was a beautiful day. Clear and cool. We had two couples visit, right when the museum opened. They had trouble opening the door. There is a note on the door explaining that the lock is historic and to be patient with it. When I see this, I take it as a cue to open the door and welcome everyone. I thought that the two couples were a party of four, but they were not together, one being from Fort Worth and the other from Houston.

One of the couples wanted to buy some postcards and a cookbook. I wasn't able to make the credit card scanner work, so the Museum coordinator told them it was no charge. They were nice to rummage though pockets and come up most of it in change. We need a better car reader system.

I spoke with the coordinator about upcoming events and how we might promote them. Mainly some films for Black History Month. She also told me how amazed she was with our recent Facebook activity. More on that soon...

Welcome

This is a journal of my experiences as a volunteer docent for a small town historical museum. I will use it to record and share my ideas and stories about working with the museum.
